Hull Vibe: BUC album review

British Urban Collective is a national youth-music project that gives inner city kids the chance to make an impact in the British music industry. The project launched in 2004 as London Urban Collective and has now expanded into Hull, Manchester, Belfast and Glasgow with funding through the Execution Charitable Trust.

The British Urban Collective album features artists from these cities and will be independently released on Freeport Records / Universal Digital in 2010. The Hull artists were selected from open auditions at The Warren.

The CD is a double album with one disk consisting of electric songs and the other disk of acoustic songs. Representing Hull are Someone and The Somethings, Farage Ally Busara, Danny Landau (with the help of Charmaine Wombwell and Simon Coletta on his second track), The Cliques, Keith Hagger, James Pyke and Ysabelle Wombwell ft Stewart Baxter, Ruperts, Lone Warrior and Jody McKenna. Basically there is a lot of Hull talent on offer.

Its not just about the Hull bands though. There are 34 tracks on there in total and some of the other cities have made great contributions to the CD. Acoustic Dan from Belfast is probably the stand out artist for me.
