Jody McKenna

Jody McKenna emerged from the streets of Hull through the national youth music project called British Urban Collective www.britishurbancollective.com. Live and recorded, Jody’s bitter-sweet songs of broken promises, abandonment and hardship reflect more than his troubled upbringing. Like Lowry, they paint a brutally honest picture of life and death at the raw end of the kingdom.

Recent support slots include Awash With Antler, Hoover Dams, Freedom Festival, Love Music Hate Racism, Like A Thief, Jersey Budd, Finlay Quaye and One Eskimo.

Jody and The Secret Millionaire

The new series of Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire sent millionaire Martin Stamp to Hull to make a ”documentary” about community projects. There he met and befriended Jody and they’re still good friends today. Martin gave £20,000 to The Warren Community Centre to help them start up their own record label and support artists like Jody.
